Which citizenship test version do I take: 2008 or 2025?

Your test version is fixed by the date you filed Form N-400, not by when your interview is scheduled.

Filed on or after October 20, 2025: you’ll be tested on the 2025 civics test bank (128 questions, 20 asked, 12 needed to pass).

Filed before October 20, 2025: you’ll be tested on the 2008 civics test bank (100 questions, 10 asked, 6 needed to pass).

If you’re not sure which date applies, check the receipt notice (Form I-797C) USCIS mailed after you filed — it shows the filing date USCIS has on record.
