This question comes from the American History section of the 2025 Civics Test. USCIS includes it to confirm applicants know the founding events and figures behind U.S. citizenship, not just civics theory. The accepted answer, "American Indians", is worth memorizing exactly since dates and names are graded strictly in the interview.
This is question 74 of the 2025 Civics Test. See it on uscis.gov. This question is worded the same way on the 2008 Civics Test.
